Granite countertops at good prices

All of us love the glossy finish of the granite countertops. They add special value to our interiors and give it a rich look. Besides that granite countertops are heat resistant and almost maintenance free. They are resistant to scratch and stain as well. All these make granite as one of the most popular choices for countertops. However, they can be expensive.

The cost does not simply depend on the amount of granite stone that is used it is also dependent on other factors that not many of us are aware. One of the factors that affect the price is the demand in the market for the granite stones and certain colors and types may be more expensive than the others because they are more popular in a particular city. Besides that certain colors or types of granites may be rare to find making them more expensive.

Secondly, the cost also includes transportation and installation charges. When it comes to installation the type of cuts to be used also affect the cost. When you have a complicated design for the countertop it would involve more labor so this can be another factor that affects the cost of your countertop. Moreover, if you go for 4 or 5 inches slabs it is certainly going to cost you more because of the thickness. All you need for a kitchen countertop is 2 to 2.5 inches granite slabs.

Granite from a certain country can be more expensive than the others due to the variation in the quality and the distance involved in transportation etc. Granite stones have veins and patterns running through them. If you are too specific about specific types of veins and patterns that are rare, it can add up to the cost.

The initial price that you spend on your granite countertop alone should not influence your decision. You need to take into consideration other factors such as durability, easy maintenance, etc. There are other cheaper materials that are available in the market. It will save you a few dollars in the beginning but they will soon lose their initial glamour and you would have to start thinking of remodeling your kitchen again in two years time because of the wear and tear. Some of the countertop materials are not scratch proof or stain proof so this will make your kitchen have an untidy look forcing you to go for remodeling within a short period. Whereas with granite countertops even if you spend a little extra granite countertops will retain its fresh and new look for a longer period of time and you may not even have to think of remodeling until and unless you are looking for some change in your setup.
