Poster Strategies for Success

Let’s face it. Poster printing may be a great way to advertise your business and products, but it takes more thought that simply hanging a poster and hoping for the best. Unlike direct mailers where much of the targeting is done for you, poster marketing requires you to put a little thought and planning into how you want to implement your campaign so you get the most bang for your buck. With that in mind, let me give you a few simple tips you may not have thought about.

Differences Count: One single poster isn’t going to appeal to every person that might view it so consider printing a variety of posters and target them at different audiences. Poster printing is inexpensive enough to allow for this sort of strategy and the upside of this approach is that it allows you to be everything to everyone, so to speak. Of course, your product won’t be for everyone, but by reaching out to the most groups you can will help ensure that your marketing message takes root.

Size Matters: Perhaps the most important factor in the success of a poster marketing campaign is visibility, or where you place your posters. Larger posters won’t fit everywhere, though, and smaller posters might not stand out stapled to a telephone pole on the side of the road. Consider printing your poster in a variety of sizes so that you can use them in a variety of environments for maximum efficiency.

More is Better: One poster might get overlooked easily enough. Why not post three or four side by side to create larger advertising space for yourself? Naturally, this will be in poor taste if you’re posting them on a community bulletin board, but if you have a large wall with plenty of empty space, why not go for it? Making a large row or block of posters like this also helps minimize the chances that your poster will be covered up by other’s flyers and posters.

No single tip is going to guarantee you success, but keeping these in mind can help you get more out of your poster marketing efforts. The main factor is going to be your poster itself and it’s ability to catch consumer attention. If your posters aren’t distributed effectively in the first place, though, there is little hope for even the best of poster designs to generate results. A professionally printed poster and thoughtful placement and implementation are your keys to increased profits and a return on your advertising investment.
